PJ Library Stories & Snacks

Every month Sarah receives either a CD or book for FREE! Yes, free!

While I was pregnant, I heard about a children’s program that gives free books. After some research, I learned that PJ Library (“PJ” stands for pajamas) provides Jewish children ages six months to 5 1/2 years a treasured, age-appropriate Jewish-themed book or CD free. It is sent by mail every month. Along with the gift of children’s books and music, families receive parenting books and reading guides to enhance their PJ Library experience—all at no cost to the recipient.

PJ Library of Los Angeles is sponsored by The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.

I was so excited! I thought, “Free Jewish books that come to your door?! Sign me up!” After signing up, I realized there was a waiting list. When Sarah was six months old, we were surprised with our first book in the mail!

Now at 25 months old, Sarah recognizes the PJ Library packing in our mailbox and shouts, “Book time!”

Every so often I would get invitations from PJ Library of Los Angeles to events they were hosting in the city. However, with a toddler who doesn’t fall asleep in the car, and bad L.A. traffic, I never went to any of them. I decided to join the committee so I could be active in trying to have events also held in the valley.

Since the PJ Library Stories & Snacks event in LA were very successful, our committee decided to try them out in the Valley.

After only 24 hours, we sold out of spots for homes in the Valley!!

Our home was one of the homes whom hosted a PJ Library Stories & Snacks event.

It was a great morning! We did arts and crafts, read a couple of stories and ate snacks. I also got to meet some friendly moms in my area. To my surprise, two of the moms that attended already had some connection to me. Small world!picstitch(3)
