Sarah recently came home with the dreaded letter. They have LICE IN CAMP!!!

Throw up, sucking snot from that strange looking tube, and a poopy mess is all doable for me, but nothing grosses me more then little bugs in my kids hair.

Yup, you read it right, we too were plagued with lice in the past. Sarah was in kindergarten and only a few months into a new school when I got the call, “Sarah has lice”. It was horrible, disgusting and really difficult. After I bombed her scalp and combed through Sarah’s thick and curly hair for what feels like forever, we sent her to school lice free. Turns out I left eggs in her hair and in one nights sleep those little suckers hatched into lice. I once again got the call, “she has lice.”  UGHHHH! What was I suppose to do? Buy more of that poison, go through her hair AGAIN all while she’s screaming from the burning sensation while I try to keep myself from throwing up. No thanks! I did a quick search and came up with the perfect solution.

I called My Hair Helpers and within two hours Amy showed up at my door.  

She gave me some advice, taught me some tricks and best of all she got rid of Sarah’s lice!!! I am forever grateful for her.

Here’s what we did.

Step 1: Fill a spray bottle with 1/3 conditioner and 2/3 water. Spray throughout hair.

Step 2: Comb throughout hair. Get rid of as much lice as you can.

Step 3: Use Amy’s natural lice removal mousse.

Step 4: Rinse hair.

Step 5: Braid hair and use my mint spray daily to avoid any more lice.

Oshrat’s Bachelorette

Back when it was my wedding (almost 10 years ago! Ahhhhh!) bridal parties and their friends got together for thier bachelorette the night before the wedding or a safer bet a few days before (we chose the later).

Now the trend is for the bachelorette and her friends to go on a girls trip. These trips can be local or even as far as taking a flight across oceans, weeks and even months before their wedding.

It all started with my sister G’s wedding last year when we went to Mexico.

This year my sister Oshrat’s getting married! With much excitement this sis opted for something in Cali. Palm Springs to be exact. I was so excited!

So 2 Cali residents and 4 Floridians (unfortunately one got girl sick and had to cancel last minute) headed to Palm Springs for a bachelorette weekend or as we nicknamed it Bachella.

Day 1
We met the Floridians at the airport, munched on some doughnuts I ordered and made our way to Palm Springs.

Traffic was a nightmare and the hotel didn’t have the room we requested, but we we’re determined to make day one amazing regardless.

First things first, decorating the bride-to-be’s room. 

We also put together the girls “survival” bags.

After a visit to the pool we cleaned up and made our way to the hotel restaurant, El Jefe.

Both the tacos and margaritas were amazing! Highly suggest this place for a casual night out.

We hung around the hotel for bit, but after traveling all day, we called it a night and headed back to our rooms.

Day 2

Before picking our hotel The Saguaro Palm Springs I read that they had bikes for their guests to rent. Well Osh loved this idea and in hindsight I wish I never told her about it.

We grabbed our bikes, took some pics and hit the town. My beautiful sisters!Our first stop was a cute restaurant I found on Yelp a few weeks ago. Unfortunately this restaurant was closed while we were in town. Hot and hungry, we stopped at a random restaurant in the plaza. Thankfully it had good food, COLD air and a drink menu.  At one point it reached 115 degrees and we were toast!! We found a bus that would take half the group (bus only had room for 3 bikes) back to the hotel while the rest of the group waited for the next bus. But sitting in the hot sun in a black box sounded horrible. So Osh, her friend, Irina and I made the trek back to the hotel on bike. 

It was a horrible idea!!! We came back bright red, over heated and depleted. Again the idea of riding bikes sounded cute, but not in Palm Springs on the hottest day in summer!!

We spent the rest of the day cooling off in the pool.The bride-to-be in her ring float from hereWith high temps in Palm Springs they really make sure your hydrated during your stay. They have water in the lobby and the cutest cactus drinking dispenser by each cabana.It was 6pm and still super hot!! We opted to rest for a bit in our rooms before heading out for the night.

G was in charge of dinner locations and she didn’t disappoint. We went to the Parker hotel and had dinner at Norma’s. After dinner the waiter brought Osh a surprise dessert.We hung out in the gorgeous hotel for a bit before heading back to ours. Love my g! Day 3

We started the day with breakfast at Jake’s where I had the yummiest Bloody Mary.

Our adventure for the day was the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.We took the 10 tram ride to 8,516 feet on the cliffs of Chino Canyon. It was frighting!!! I looked down once and got all woozy. Thankfully one of my sisters brave friends took this picture for me. Back on land we enjoyed the views and exploring Mt. San Jacinto State Park. It was beautiful! Everywhere you stepped, nature was showing her beauty.   We even checked out the butterscotch tree.  Back at our hotel and in the pool.   We rested for a bit and then headed out for dinner. We didn’t have reservations for dinner on this night so we hung out at the Workshop Bar for a bit before going into The Kitchen.It was delicious! Highly recommend their tacos and apps. Day 4

We packed our bags and ended the trip with brunch at Trio. I had this amazing french toast with the biggest blackberries you have ever seen!And that’s a wrap on Bachella! I had lot’s of fun hanging out with my sisters and getting to know her friends better.

Glen Ivy Hot Springs

For a while now, I’ve been hearing lot’s of great things about a spa in Southern California called Glen Ivy Hot Springs. So when my sisters were in town I knew it was the perfect time to check it out. So glad we did! After getting our map (this place is huge!!) we went to the locker room, put our stuff into the locker and ran outside to soak it all in. I was so excited!!Our first stop was Club Mud. This California red clay is a silky soft paste that we lathered ourselves with. After playing in the mud pool we then hung out as the clay dried.

INSIDER TIP: Wear a darker swimsuit for this treatment as the red clay stained our light colored suits.

We washed up and headed to the Mineral Baths. These baths are 104 degrees of sulfur rich springs!

Next up was the Lounge Pool. This shallow pool is equipped with blue floats and chairs. I could have stayed in there forever! Next stop was the Hot & Cold Plunge Pools. These pools were quite the experience. The hot pool was 103 and cold pool was 60!!! After one minute you plunge into the next pool. You repeat thus process for about 10 minutes. Next was the Saline Pool. Just like it’s name this pool is filed with Epsom salt. Epsom salts are rich in magnesium and sulfates, both of which have a therapeutic effect on easing tight muscles and joints and cramps and inflammation in the body. (Picture is from Glen Ivy website.)

We ended our day with a visit to the Vista Pool. This mineral pool is filled with the sulfur, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium content. We lounged here for a bit before we headed home. We had such a nice day! Can’t wait to come back!!

What I’m reminiscing about…

Cutting Jacob’s hair for the first time at his birthday and haircut ceremony. I can’t believe we finally cut his hair!!

What I’m loving…

Jacob has been phasing out of naps. Even though this stay at home mama loves nap time, I’m kind loving not having to worry about being home for his nap time. My babies are growing up!

What we’ve been up to…

May was lot’s of fun! My mom came for visit in the beginning of the month, we celebrated Jacob’s 3rd birthday, I celebrated Mother’s day with a fun fulled day of activities, we attended 3 birthday parties, I went on a Motherhood Walk with my friend Eynav, we celebrated and baked cheesecake for Shavout, a Jewish holiday, sang karaoke for Cheryl’s, Sarah completed 1st grade, Jacob and I attended our last mommy and me, we said bye to my mother-in-law as she moved on to new adventures and ended the month with a family trip to Vegas. Phew! It was a busy month!

What I’m dreading…

Potty training!!! I know i’ve been talking about doing it a few times, but time never felt right. However with preschool starting in September he needs to be fully potty trained before he starts school so this mama has some work to do. Any tips? I dread this part of being a mama. What I’m working on…

Catching up on my blog life. I have a huge to do list and a several drafts. This summer I’m hoping to really focus on my blog.

What I’m excited about…

Summer concerts with the family. Aside from hanging by the pool most of the summer our family loves hanging out at the park, playing, bringing a picnic and hanging out while listening to music. What I’m watching/reading…

Sarah and I are back at it with watching our favorite baking competitions. This time we are watching Best Baker in America. So good!and I’m still watching my usual, Southern Charm and Real Housewives of NYC. CAN’T.GET.ENOUGH!

While we were in Vegas my sis and her fiance hung out with the kids one night so hubby and I can go one a date. I wore the comfiest moto leggings from here. What I’m doing this weekend…

We have plans to check out the Home Depot kids wood work program, pool time, dinner at a friend’s house, a couple of errands and a MNO.

What I’m looking forward to next month…

June is looking to be super busy! Sarah starts camp, we have 3 birthday parties to attend, hubby and I are attending a Gala, Father’s Day, Concerts in the Park, Palm Springs for Oshrat’s bachlorette, and then closing up the month with my sisters staying in Cali and staying with us for the week. Busy busy!

What else is new…

My friend Jen and I recently went to NYSNC’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star presentation. We had low expectations and just went for the adventure! So glad we did!! Not only did we have a great spot, we got to see JT!!

Blender Cheesecake

We just celebrated the Jewish holiday, Shavout. As tradition goes it’s customary to eat dairy foods on Shavout. We eat dairy foods to symbolize the “land flowing with milk and honey”.

We eat borekas (recipe can be found here) and cheesecake. My friend once made this cheesecake that tasted amazing! It wasn’t too dense, or too sweet, it was just right.

Ingredients

9 inch graham cracker crust

1 oz cottage cheese

3 eggs

½ cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp flour

Optional: chocolate chips, jelly

Directions

Blend all ingredients.

Pour into piecrust.

Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes or until set. Thanks to my little sous chefs for the help!
