Glen Ivy Hot Springs

For a while now, I’ve been hearing lot’s of great things about a spa in Southern California called Glen Ivy Hot Springs. So when my sisters were in town I knew it was the perfect time to check it out. So glad we did! After getting our map (this place is huge!!) we went to the locker room, put our stuff into the locker and ran outside to soak it all in. I was so excited!!Our first stop was Club Mud. This California red clay is a silky soft paste that we lathered ourselves with. After playing in the mud pool we then hung out as the clay dried.

INSIDER TIP: Wear a darker swimsuit for this treatment as the red clay stained our light colored suits.

We washed up and headed to the Mineral Baths. These baths are 104 degrees of sulfur rich springs!

Next up was the Lounge Pool. This shallow pool is equipped with blue floats and chairs. I could have stayed in there forever! Next stop was the Hot & Cold Plunge Pools. These pools were quite the experience. The hot pool was 103 and cold pool was 60!!! After one minute you plunge into the next pool. You repeat thus process for about 10 minutes. It boosts blood flow and flushes away toxins at the same time.(Picture is from Glen Ivy website.)

Next was the Saline Pool. Just like it’s name this pool is filed with Epsom salt. Epsom salts are rich in magnesium and sulfates, both of which have a therapeutic effect on easing tight muscles and joints and cramps and inflammation in the body. (Picture is from Glen Ivy website.)

We ended our day with a visit to the Vista Pool. This mineral pool is filled with the sulfur, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium content. We lounged here for a bit before we headed home. We had such a nice day! Can’t wait to come back!!

Insider Tip: Come after 4pm for half off! Read more about it here.

Candytopia

After visiting the Museum of Ice Cream last summer I knew I wanted to check out the new pop up museum, Candytopia. So I grabbed 3 of my girlfriends and made the drive out to Santa Monica. We got there a few minutes before our time slot where an employee informed us they didn’t have any bathrooms in the building. So we decided to hit the bathrooms and the bar before entering.

Cheers to girls night out! Inside and ready for some candy! Room 1 –  The first room was super cool! The theme was a steampunk-styled library. After a few housekeeping rules a clock came down filled with chocolate. Candy: Kit Kat We signed the big book and made it to the next room. Room 2 – This room was really pretty! It had an artistic feel with Willy Wonka and Mona Lisa made from Jelly Beans! Candy: candy bracelets  Room 3 – Underworld theme. It was all made out of candy so it was neat, but other then taking a picture inside of a shark’s head it was just eh. Candy: Pixie Sticks Room 4 – Optical illusion. Nothing seems like it should be. Lot’s of fun spots! Candy: Trolli fruit snacks The staff at Candytopia was very helpful and frequently asked us if we wanted our pictures taken except for this one guy. He could not get us jumping in the air for the life of him. Oh well, it made for fun pics! Room 5 – Outdoors. This room was the most fun! It had swings that made us laugh uncontrollably and then a hammock that I sat down with Stacee which we fell off of shortly after. It also had a fun wind tunnel and surfboard. Candy: Laffy Taffy Room 6 – Confetti. This was a pretty room! Every few minutes confetti blasted through a tunnel and a rotating stage made for some belly laughs. Candy: Trolli Fruit Twists. Room 7 – Marshmallow pit. This is the only room we had to wait around for as they only allow a certain amount of people in the pit. While waiting for our turn we hung out in the jungle area. Candy: None Jen and I tried to hang off the bar, but I was in no condition to do so.

Then it was time for the marshmallow pit. Much like the sprinkles pool in the Museum of Ice Cream we swam in what looked like marshmallows, but was actually just foam.So much fun!!! Thank you girls for joining me on my adventures. xo

Germaine’s Bachelorette

Before my sister, Germaine, got married we spent 4 fun filled days in Mexico for her bachelorette. Day 1

While I flew out of Cali the rest of the girls took a short flight from Florida so they hung out by the pool and went out for dinner. Day 2

I caught up with the girls, got a good night sleep and then woke up to some goodies! My other sister, Osh (and my bed mate for the weekend) and I got our gear on and were ready to start the day. The girls and our gear! Our adventure for the day was a yacht on the Riviera Maya. I got in a cab with my roommates (sis and two cousins) and it began pouring rain!Luckily when we got there the sky cleared up and the sun came out. Got to love tropical weather! However the ocean was super choppy and very windy. Which made for a super cute photo shoot of my cute sis! Love her! After more wind and rough waves I lost my hat and my stomach. It was horrible! I was over the side of the boat the whole time!!! There were two other girls that got sick too but they were able to stop barfing after the initial round.

We finally stopped at our destination for swimming and lunch. G caught us a fish which the crew cooked for lunch. It was delicious!!  While waiting for lunch to be cooked we hung out in the water. G got to use the ring float I bought for her! After taking a couple of pictures of G and freaking out over the huge sting rays (I know I’m a baby) I somehow slipped and fell down the stairs. Unfortunately I went home with a pretty gnarly bruise.

I was ready to go back to some dry land and our new captain was ready to take us home. We got back to our hotel, The Thompson (which was beautiful and highly recommended) to rest and hang out until dinner time.

The sisters! The beautiful bride to be!For dinner we went to Diablito Cha Cha Cha. The food was yummy! After this picture with my sister I got into an argument with her and needed a breather. I met up with the girls in the club later that night, but didn’t take any pics.

We ended the night with a night swim in our clothes. Day 3

We started our day with Starbucks and a walk around the outdoor market. While we waited for the rest of our squad to get ready we took some cheesy cousin pics. Our adventure for the day was a walk through the Maya ruins and swimming in fresh water caves called the Cenotes.

We hired a tour guide for the day to take us on our adventures. We used Mexico Tropical. Our tour guide was amazing! Our first stop was lunch with the best salsa bar ever!! Next up was the Maya ruins. It was beautiful! Totally worth the trip!Next stop was my favorite!!!! The Cenotes! We swam, snorkeled and took in this natural beauty. So so cool!

We ended our adventure tour at the beach with smoothies and more tacos. We got back to our hotel and decided to check out the sunset by the pool. It was a gorgeous view so we took a couple of pics.

We got back to our rooms and got dressed for dinner. The rest of the girls were tired so it ended up being cousin night. Dessert was AMAZING!!!!After dinner we went up to the girls room for a little surprise for G.Day 4

While the girls went downstairs for breakfast I called room service and had some me time. After breakfast we headed over to another Thompson property for some beach time. We enjoyed some sangria and quiet time before our flights back home.   Thank you g for the fun weekend! Cheers!#nachoaveragebach #fiestasiestatequilarepeat

Fillmore Train Field Trip

I recently went on my 4th Fillmore Train Field Trip. Twice with Sarah and twice with Jacob.I love doing the same things with my kids and when I remember take the same picture. We are so very thankful for our mommy and me class.

My train loving boy was super excited about his 2nd turn to ride the train!Classmate Nathan and Jacob holding their trains and conductor hats. All abroad the choo choo! My little conductor is so excited! Ready for our stop, The Fish Hatchery. I totally thought Jacob would be excited to see the conductor, but for some reason Jacob was super nervous around him. We got our fish food and Jacob dropped in a few at a time.  Then he noctied his buddy Aubrey throwing in handfuls and then her whole bag so Jacob decided to do the same. Monkey see, monkey do! Now that the fish are full it’s time to go back on the train!Once we got back to the train station, we played peek a boo on the stationed trains. Such a fun day out with little man!

Harlem Globetrotters

Once a month I try to find something fun to do with the family. So when I saw that the Harlem Globetrotters were in town and on a Sunday I knew we needed to go.

Hubby went when he was younger and I’ve never been, but the idea of watching a team of basketball players play tricks while they run up and down the court seemed fun. And fun it was!We picked our seats on Stub Hub blindly and totally lucked out! We sat right where the Harlem Globetrotters players walk in from. We got to see the players once again as they went to their lockerooms during halftime. The tricks were even cooler during half time! They brought out mats and a trampoline. My kids thought it was so cool. See more tricks here.

Globie, their mascot, even came out and did a few tricks.  See Globie breakdance here.

Sarah was really impressed!Such a fun day spending time with my loves! Looking forward to our next family adventure!

Melissa’s Birthday in Portland

This past weekend I went to Portland to celebrate my best friend, Melissa’s birthday.

10 years ago I met Melissa in Nor Cal while working for her as a USY Advisor. She was sweet, funny and we had a lot in common. Through out the years we grew even closer. She hosted my bridal shower and my sheva brachot (after wedding dinner). She always make time to see me and my family when she comes to LA. And she is the best person to call when you want to chat. To celebrate her 40th birthday she invited a few close group of friends to stay at her house.

DAY 1

After landing Thursday evening, Melissa took us to our first stop in Portland, Voodoo Doughnut. This eclectic shop has over 50 different kinds of doughnuts, is covered in pink paint and has super art throughout.  We got the Old Dirty Bastard, Snickers Doughnut, and Portland Cream. Yum!!!We walked around for a bit, got pizza and checked out a few places.

DAY 2

We slept in a bit, ran some errands and then made our way out to lunch. After lunch we went to the Nike Employee Store. Melissa’s sister-in-law works for Nike so we checked out the store and bought some shoes. Our next stop was Melissa’s yogurt shop, Yo Zone. She recently bought the shop so going in everyday while we were in town was lot’s of fun. So proud of her! We concluded the evening with Shabbat dinner with her family and friends. DAY 3

We started the day with pomegranate mimosas and brunch at Cheryl’s in downtown Portland. This restaurant is known for their beignets before the meal. Sweets before a meal, I like the way they think! Cheers to the birthday girl! After brunch we walked around a bit. I loved the fresh air and crystal blue sky!Our next stop was the Pittock Mansion. The views were gorgeous and the trees were beautiful. I loved seeing all the moss everywhere. Since we were so high up we even got to see snow.  Sarah and I were both very excited! The next stop might have been my favorite (shhh, don’t tell Melissa!). While looking for things to do in Portland, The Cullen House popped up!  If you know me personally you know how much I was into the whole Twilight craze. My sister and I even went to the all premiers. See more here.We got out, took some pictures and then the owner came out and told us to leave! Ahhh!  If you’re not familiar with this house here is what it looked like in the movie. After we picked up her friend from the airport we checked out the Rose Gardens. However there were no roses to be found. I still thought it was a beautiful area. We squeezed into her SUV and made our daily visit to Yo Zone.We all took a glorious nap and got ready for dinner. Melissa was so sweet and got us a limo for the evening. For dinner we went to SuBe for sushi. Before our next stop we took the limo around town. We stopped at the Columbia River.

We ended the night with some fun at the Barrel Room. I wasn’t so good about taking pictures. DAY 4

We woke up and had Melissa’s homemade bagels. Yum!!Our outing for the day was Powell’s Books. I could have stayed all day! I picked up a few gifts for the kiddos and was ready for my flight. Instead of eating lunch near the airport we deiced to check out the food carts. With multiple flights and times I got to the airport on the earlier side. While walking around I spotted a spa. I decided since I was still not on mom duty, Id’ end my trip with a little neck and shoulder massage. Ahhh! Thank you Melissa for inviting me and for all for the fun memories! Until next time…

Big shout out to my hubby for holding down the fort! This trip would have not have happened if it weren’t for his love and support. Not only did he take kids out on outings, he dressed and did Sarah’s hair for their first father daughter dance.

Harvest Crush

In honor of my good friend, Whitney‘s, birthday this week I want to share the fun moms day out we had this past fall.

I came across an event called, Harvest Crush and invited the perfect friend to join me.

Whitney and I met up at the winery and HAD the best time!We started the afternoon with a lesson on how to cut grapes. Next up was my favorite part, crushing the grapes!

We all dumped our buckets into the container, took turn climbing inside and started to stomp. It reminded when Lucy stomped grapes in this episode. We both almost slipped a few times, but luckily no one hit the floor. So fun! We did pretty good considering we were laughing most of the time! We rinsed our feet and then headed inside for lunch.Thankful for afternoons with friends!
