First Day of School {2012}

Today was Sarah’s fist day of “school”. The program we chose to enroll her in is actually a parent participation preschool program, but we call it “school”. I even got so excited and bought her a toddler backpack and matching lunch box.

(I didn’t get a chance to take a picture before school started so naturally the first day she brings it she would get it stained.)

Being a Pinterest lover I got this idea of taking a picture of Sarah with a sign before her first day of school.

It came out really cute if I do say so myself! I plan on taking a picture of her on the last day of school to see how much she’s grown.

Some more cute outtakes from the photo shoot!

“Hmmm what is this strap all about?”

We had a lovely morning (class is from 9am – 12pm)! We played with the water table, sang songs and tried catching bubbles. The best part about school is there are 3 other mommy friends (Dev, Thomas and Patrick) that have signed up to be in our class too.

Looking forward to many more memories!

I’m very fortunate to have two sweet, caring and loving sisters! Although we are not close in age we have always been very close. So close that I call each of them my best friends. Oshrat, the middle sister, was even my Maid Of Honor at my wedding.

Back when I was growing up we didn’t have the same loving relationship we have now. Frankly, I thought they were annoying! With an age gap of 4 and then 10 years apart it was kind of a understood.

Germaine, my youngest sister, and I have gotten really close! So close that we speak morning, night and several times in between. We both developed a love for Twilight and had many of the same interests. When I was younger, I remember taking care of her, helping her pick outfits and giving her advice.

Then I moved to California (7 years ago). It was hard. I was homesick a lot (still feel that way from time to time) and in a newish relationship. We drifted apart. However my sister Oshrat and I grew stronger. She visited often and we kept in touch daily.
Fast forward to three years ago. G and I realized we have a lot more in common then we thought. We like the same music, same night life, same vision of life and of course Twilight! She also matured into a beautiful woman who I got  along with really well!

G moved to LA last year to pursue some goals and dreams. I was super happy and couldn’t wait for all the fun things we would do!

It’s been almost 30 days since she moved back home and I’m not embarrassed to say that I have shed a tear or two from time to time since she has left. I miss her! I miss her a lot! She was my west coast safety net. I was no longer homesick. Sure I have my in-laws (which I love dearly) in CA, but no one can replace blood. It was really great having her here. We did a lot of fun things while she was here and I thought it would be fun to look back at some of our memorable adventures:

Breaking Dawn Premier

Breaking Dawn Screening

Bethenny Show

Snow White and the Huntsman screening where we were a part of a Q&A with Kristin Stewart

Jay Leno Show (look we even made it on TV!)

Palm Springs

Perez Hilton Concert (G won a pair of tickets!)

Celebrated each others birthday and so much more…

Needless to say, I miss her! Counting down the days until I see you next.

Sesame Street

I didn’t grow up watching Sesame Street. I was into Kidsongs and Barney (I know how lame! But hey I had younger sisters ;) ).

Hubby however was a real fan of SS and watched it often. So often he knew certain episodes by memory!

From the first day Sarah laid her eyes on Elmo and friends, she was hooked! Every time she got sick we would have a SS marathon. She grew to really like it and even requested the show. Her second word was actually Abby (the main female character on the show).

Therefore it shouldn’t be a surprise that we celebrated her first birthday Sesame Street style.

Last week Jerry Nelson, Count von Count died at the age of 78. It’s sad to see any of her beloved characters die. Especially the Count! His main role was to teach kids how to count. Sarah loved his song about the number eight. If you’d like to watch it click here. She even yells it out when she sees it on buildings, etc.. So sorry to see you go Count von Count.

Living in Florida most of my life, I am very used to hurricanes. But not being next to your family makes me worry. My parents and two sisters live there along with grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. Granted almost nothing ever happened to us, I am still worried. Until my sister sends me a picture text of the soup her and my mom just made.

Doesn’t it look yummy?!

My friend posted this Facebook status the other day “I remember hurricane Andrew so vividly. Hard to believe it was 20 years ago today. I hope we never experience another hurricane like that in my lifetime.”

I too remember it vividly! I was in bed under my covers while my windows clanked, while the tress flew across the street and while heavy rain poured flooded our roof. It was a crazy night, but by the next morning it was all done. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years!

Isaac might be the current hurricane causing havoc in South Florida, but it also happens to be my father’s name. In Hebrew we call him Itzhak or Ike in English. Isaac means to laugh. I hope this hurricane isn’t laughing at us too much and that my family and friends are all prepared for what might just turn into a tropical storm!

A few days ago I posted a freebie from Sears. Today we took advantage of the opportunity. I’ve been searching and pinning a lot of sweet photos on Pinterest lately. My inspiration was old Hollywood mixed with cute and simple baby poses.

It was fun! Sarah didn’t mind getting dressed up and posing for the camera. She did however want to play with all their props (which didn’t match our theme)!

Here are some of my favorite pictures:

Can’t wait to frame some of these precious moments!

Amazon Mom

I’m a big fan of Amazon! Their quick and easy delivery is one of my favorite things about this online company. When I was pregnant, my husband came across Amazon Mom. What is Amazon Mom you ask? “Amazon Mom is a membership program aimed at helping parents and caregivers in the prenatal through toddler years use Amazon to find and save on all the products their family needs.”

It’s a great way to get everything baby-related without leaving the house (which can be hard the first few months). Here are some of the benefits:

  • 20% off diapers and wipes subscriptions with Subscribe & Save
  • FREE Two-Day Shipping on millions of items with Amazon Prime* shipping
  • Exclusive discounts and deals for Amazon Mom members

Ask most members. It’s a really convenient way to shop for all the necessary baby products. I, myself, haven’t bought diapers anywhere else since discovering Amazon Mom!

Please Note: I am not being paid for recommending this product. I just really like it!
